Back caption reads "Shortly following the end of World War II, the Jupiter Island Association raised funds for area beautification projects which included the planting of ficus nitida saplings, less than ten feet tall, along Bridge Road. Today, this bower of Cuban laurel forms a natural canopy above the roadway, creating one of the most picturesque spots in Martin County. One of a series of seven prints and postcards depicting historical landmarks and points of interests along the Treasure Coast of Florida, these illustrations are available exclusively through American Pioneer Savings Bank." -

Line drawing of the Okeechobee Courthouse. One of seven illustrations of county landmarks and points of interest along the Treasure Coast commissioned by First Fidelity Bank (1986-1990). Back caption reads "In 1917, Okeechobee County was formed from parts of Palm Beach, St. Lucie, and Osceola counties. Construction of the courthouse began in 1926 and was completed, at an estimated coast of $200,000, shortly before the major hurricane of 1928. After the storm, National Guardsman camping on the courthouse lawn used the courthouse as emergency storage for the caskets of hurricane victims, including seven unidentified bodies. One of a series of seven prints and postcards depicting historical landmarks and points of interest along the Treasure Coast of Florida. Back caption reads "In 1876, then Houses of Refuge were built along the eastern seaboard. This is the last House of Refuge still standing. Originally for the refuge of seamen in distress, it served as a submarine watch tower during World War II and now is an historical museum and center for the propagation and study of giant sea turtles indigenous to this coast. Grapefruit branches with smiling young girl in floral hat and burgundy velvet dress holding orange tree branches added to the foreground. Front caption reads "There is always sunshine in Florida. Scene in grape fruit orchard." Postmark was stamped in Stuart on a July 2nd but the year is cutoff (not stamped completely). -
