Bill Alloway releases sea turtles, 1965

Description

Bill Alloway release sea turtles on the beach. Alloway worked as the curator of the House of Refuge Museum and participated in a project to help restore the local green turtle population with Ross Witham. Beginning in the late 1950s, Witham and Alloway received annual shipments of baby green turtles from Costa Rica. The baby turtles were cared for in tanks at the House of Refuge for a year until being released into the ocean.
