Subject
Description
Published in the Stuart News (19 Jan 1956) at the official opening of the House of Refuge Museum, with the caption "This was the Start of the Traffic Jamup Sunday. This was the scene at the House of Refuge museum about 2:30 Sunday afternoon as the traffic began to jam up at the end of the road on the island. Within the next hour the cars were queued up as far down the road as the eye could see when the turnout far exceeded expectations and emphasized the need for improvement of the road and museum parking facilities."
