Palm City Post Office, 1987
Second Palm City Post Office. The original post office building was damaged by the 1949 hurricane. Vermelle Fulton Baker served as postmaster at the time and the front part of her home became the new Palm City Post Office. Around 1956, the building was moved to Mapp Road. By the 1980s, the small building was no longer sufficient for the growing Palm City population and a new, larger building opened at the corner of Mapp Road and Martin Highway (SR 714) in April 1986. -

Fulton family portrait taken in front of the Palm City post office. Vermelle Fulton Baker (seated second row, fifth from the left) served as the Palm City postmaster from 1939 to 1956. She took over as postmaster for Palm City after the passing of the previous postmaster, her mother, Aleine Fulton.
