Judge Kanner, c. 1930

Description

Portrait of Judge A. O. Kanner. Judge Kanner moved to Martin County in 1925 and became the first state attorney for the 21st Judicial Circuit. Judge Kanner served as the attorney for the City of Stuart, for Martin County, and for the county school board. He also served as a representative of Martin County in the Florida Legislature and a state senator of the 33rd District. In 1941, he was appointed Circuit Judge of the 9th Judicial District and was appointed to the Second District Court of Appeal in 1957, where he later became the first chief judge of the Second District Court of Appeal.
