Handwritten on back: "Port Mayaca sales office 1927. Where Hoenshel family lived when they moved to Port Mayaca from Homestead." Very similar photo published in the South Florida Developer (13 Aug 1926) has caption: "The Mayaca Company built this structure on a high bank near the St. Lucie Canal at the lake, and has terraced and landscaped the surroundings to proved a setting for this community house and office building. There are rest rooms and wide veranda here where passersby may stop to watch never ending beauty of the panorama over Lake Okeechobee."
