Early fire truck for parade, c. 1934
Several images of an early fire truck with a chemical tank and hose in the back, a ladder on one side, an innertube advertising Lester's Goodyear Service, and an umbrella (with diving flappers) over the driver.
The train station, loading platform, and Feroe building visible.
A copy of one of these images, owned by Tootsie Kindberg, has handwritten on back: "Charles Rue (as Texaco's Ed Winn of radio fame). Fire truck made by Charles Rue had wood burning stove, anchor, telephone and other things that didn't actually work. This was in the parade the day the Roosevelt Bridge opened. 1/9/34 The Fire Chief of Stuart at that time was Roscoe Bell (Russ Bell). His son, six year old Stauffer, rode in the parade with Charles Rue in this fire engine. - Charles Rue and Irving Fulton" -

Stuart Messenger, c. 1926
The offices of the Stuart Daily News and Stuart Messenger, decorated with bunting. The Stuart Messenger was purchased in October 1925 by the Clyma family and it became the Stuart Daily News. A gas pump is outside the building. Published in the Stuart News, 25th Historical Edition (9 Nov 1950).

Gas station on Dixie Highway, c. 1935
Man standing in front of gas station (address in 2024: 228 S. Dixie Highway, Stuart), next door to Service Dry Cleaners in the Krueger Building. Signs include: Standard Oil Company, ladies rest room, road information, ask here Gargoyle Mobiloil, crank case greasing service. Building later used as the Red Bus Station, which provided transportation to Camp Murphy.

Lakeside Park Motel, c. 1955
Lakeside Park Motel and service station, located four miles south of Stuart on US 1. The motel was built in 1937, offering resort accommodations but the venture was short lived due to the start of WWII. Business at the motel began again from the early 1950s through the mid-1960s. In 1972, renovations began at the site to create a branch of Indian River Community College after the property's owner, John A. Roschman, donated it to the school. -
