Item

Title

Lakeside Park Motel cottages, c. 1955

Description

Coffee shop and gas station at Lakeside Park Motel and cottages, located four miles south of Stuart on US 1. The motel was built in 1937, offering resort accommodations but the venture was short lived due to the start of WWII. Business at the motel began again from the early 1950s through the mid-1960s. In 1972, renovations began at the site to create a branch of Indian River Community College after the property's owner, John A. Roschman, donated it to the school.
