Salvage operations for Hallandale dredge, 1958
The Arundel Corp. Hallandale dredger sank onto its side in May of 1958 off the coast of Hutchinson Island after a fitting broke and mud and water rushed into the vessel. For three months, salvage operations took place until finally, around August 23rd, four massive derricks successfully raised the dredge from the river bottom. -

Announcement detailed that the 6-inch Cutterhead dredge was "just purchased" and advertised that "We [Tilton Construction Co.] can now make a waterfront subdivision out of your mangrove swamp."
