  • Group of Jensen community members signed a petition to form a community church. Petition reads "Nov. 26th, 1932. We the undersigned people of the town of Jensen, Fla., being very much interested in the welfare of the Community, believe that it would be a great advantage to have a Community Church Organization formed. We also request that the Rev. H. H. Jones continue to be our pastor."

  • House belonging to William J. McClure located on Indian River Drive in Ankona (Ft. Pierce). William J. McClure purchased the 50 acre property in 1919 as a winter home and had the former house remodeled extensively; McClure also added a guest and yacht house to the property, along with an extended dock on the Indian River. The Fort Pierce Tribune (15 Jul 1919) described William McClure as "a prosperous hotel owner, having a fine property and hotel in Marcus Hook (PA)…." J. J. Pitchford purchased the property during the 1920s and it changed hands again to John Dordan in the 1930s.

  • J. J. and Blount Pitchford pose with a large tarpon held in place with the help of Wallace Maddox and a piece of heavy machinery behind the trio. The fish display portrait was captured at the Pitchford Place service station in Jensen Beach.

    Published in Sandra Thurlow's book, Historic Jensen and Eden on Florida's Indian River (p. 88) with the caption: "J.J. and Blount Pitchford stand beside a huge tarpon that Wallace Maddox holds in position behind a wrecker at the Pitchford filling station."
  • Dr. Nathaniel McClinton and his wife, Mary Ferguson stand in front of their house on Indian River Drive in Jensen. The couple retired to the area from Michigan with the intention to grow pineapples but as Dr. Ferguson saw the need for physician in the area, began serving as a traveling doctor for patients between Ft. Pierce and Hobe Sound.
