Label: "Ed Parnell, University of Florida, best friends." Edward "Pop" Parnell (1909-1985) graduated from Stuart High School in 1928, a star athlete. Played football at University of Florida, then was head football coach at Miami-Edison (1932-1942) and Miami Tech (1946-1949). He was also Dade County athletic director for ten years until his retirement in 1973. -

In 1936, Walton became a patrolman in the City of Stuart and in January 1940 became the Chief of Police. After taking a leave of absence from the position for the summer and fall of 1941, he was replaced in December. -
