The St. Lucie Auto Camp was located on Dixie Highway across from MLK Blvd. Opened in 1924, its name was changed in 1936 to Stuart Auto Camp. Auto camps offered rental cottages with separate facilities for showers, bathrooms, and laundry, as well as a filling station and dance hall.
