    The back caption reads "Sunrise Inn & Club, Stuart, Florida. Sailfish Capital of the World, 35 miles north of Palm Beach. Located opposite Buoy 14 on the Inland Waterway. Private Ocean Beach, pool, tennis, golf, cottages, apartments. Owned and operated by Essex & Sussex Hotel, Spring Lake, N. J. Fred F. Schlock, Manager. Telephone (305) 287-3111."

    The Sunrise Inn property was owned by Hastings Square Hotel Co. (president Fred S. Shock), which also owned Essex-Sussex Hotel at Spring Lake NJ, between 1963 and 1972.

Message written in pencil from Jackie Lewis in Jensen Beach to Pat Gough in Chatham, New Jersey but postcard was never mailed.
  • The dining room at the Sunrise Inn Key Club in Stuart. Image shows white table clothed tables and tropical plants painted on the walls. The back side has a note written in pen dated Sunday 3/14/54 and lists several names (perhaps people that dined at the Key Club on this date): Mr. & Mrs, Beverdge, Mr. Perkins, Mr. & Mrs. L. Brussles, and Mr. & Mrs. Norrell.

  • Exterior view of the Sunrise Inn Key Club building in Stuart. This Spanish-style structure includes a covered exterior stairwell with cut-out windows. In about 1945, the Sunrise Inn was purchased by the Key Club, Inc. of Chicago, Andrew Berkey, president. He sold the property in 1963 to Fred Schlock of the Hastings Square Hotel Co., who then sold the property in 1972.
