Ferdinand Magellan train car, c. 1960
The Ferdinand Magellan railroad car rebuilt by the Pullman Company with modifications and armor for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Train car also used by Presidents Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Gold Coast Railroad Museum acquired the train car in 1958 after it was declared a surplus by the federal government. The Ferdinand Magellan was later loaned for use by President Ronald Reagan during his re-election campaign.
The Ferdinand Magellan received a National Historic Landmark designation in 1985. -
