Published in the Stuart News (16 Nov 1944) with the caption: "Caldwell dedicates new inlet channel in exercises Sunday. United States Senator Claude E. Pepper, shaking hands with Mayor Phil Pence, congratulated Stuart and Martin County public officials here recently on their plans to dedicate the new channel at St. Lucie Inlet to the Naval Amphibious Training forces which blasted it out of the coral reef. He is the first Stuart cadet to be chosen for the CAP international exchange program and will be one of five Florida 'Goodwill Ambassadors' among several hundred from all parts of the United States." -
