After winning the district contest amongst six other Elk lodges, the Stuart-Jensen Beach Elks Lodge 1870 went on to win top honors at the state competition in Orlando, held in May 1954. The winning ritualistic team was made up of the following club members: Arthur Brannan, Allan N. Decker, George Conrad, Linwood I. Simmons, Richard G. Hupfel (holding trophy), James Friend, Ward Albertson and Sydney Nesbitt.

    Published in the Stuart News (28 Oct 1954) with the caption: "Members of the Stuart and Jensen Beach Lions Clubs join to prepare for a sale of light bulbs with the theme of "buy a light and save a sight." Proceeds of the sale go to the clubs sight-saving funds. Final plans will be made when they meet tonight at Bartlett Brothers store here.
