  • The Havana Special train. Caption: "Sightseers gather on the observation deck of the Havana Special as it crosses Long Key Viaduct in 1912. The boat-train ran express from New York to Miami and then as a Local to Key West. At first travelers had to change to a Key West-Havana passenger steamer. Later three large steel ferries took the Pullman cars all the way to Cuba. The Havana Special boomed during prohibition but was cut to one trip a day in the '30's.   • Interior and exterior views of the Rambler train car. Caption: "Flagler's 'Overseas Railroad' was finished for his 83rd birthday, January 22, 1912. He came for the opening celebrations in his private car, Rambler, at the rear of the Extension Special, the first Miami-Key West train. The yellow and brown wooden car was built in 1886 by Jackson & Sharp. With its private stateroom and lavatory, its copper-lined shower, open-berth guest quarters and small but well-equipped kitchen, Rambler symbolized with luxury of Flagler's empire.   • The Ferdinand Magellan railroad car rebuilt by the Pullman Company with modifications and armor for President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Train car also used by Presidents Harry Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The Gold Coast Railroad Museum acquired the train car in 1958 after it was declared a surplus by the federal government. The Ferdinand Magellan was later loaned for use by President Ronald Reagan during his re-election campaign.

    The Ferdinand Magellan received a National Historic Landmark designation in 1985.
  • Seaboard train car. Caption on postcard reads "Passenger and Baggage Car #259 - One of the cars for your Sunday afternoon ride on the Gold Coast Railroad at the University of Miami's South Campus, operated by the Miami Railroad Historical Society. Take U.S. Hiway (sic) #1 south to Rockdale, turn west and follow signs."
  • Florida East Coast Railway train car. Caption: "The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, Whitehall Way, Palm Beach, Florida. The Rambler - Mr. Flagler's first private railroad car was outshopped in 1886, used extensively by Mr. Flagler until his death in 1913. The Rambler was in the vanguard of the first train to Key West in 1912. Was restored 1966, and opened to the public February 4, 1967. Visitors to the Museum will find in the Railroad Exhibit a complete pictorial history of the Rambler, its days of splendor, of decay and its restoration."
