Pace's Restaurant during demolition, 1961
Originally built as Chisolm’s Grill in the 1920s, the building later operated as Meadow’s Restaurant from 1955 to 1956, before being renamed Kelly’s Restaurant. In the late 1950s, it changed hands once more and became Pace’s Restaurant. The structure was demolished in 1962, as seen here, to allow for the widening of U.S. Highway 1. A Sinclair service station is visible to the right of the restaurant. -

St. Joseph's Church before demolition, 1963
St. Joseph's Catholic Church before being torn down after a fire took place there in 1960. The original church building, built in 1916, was replaced by this structure in 1947. This second structure was originally a chapel at Camp Murphy, no longer in use after the end of World War II. The parish purchased and moved it via a barge down the Indian and St. Lucie Rivers to east Ocean Boulevard. After the fire, a new church was built on the grounds nearby and it was dedicated by the bishop in July of 1961. -
