Hiram and Hattie Olds owned land around the Gilbert's Bar Coast Guard Station. -

Cast portrait for a Henry W. Savage Broadway production of "The Merry Widow." The production centers around can-can dancers at a Parisian nightclub by the name of Maxim's. Originally an Austrian operetta, Savage staged the first English production beginning in December 1907. -

First church in Stuart Florida, c. 1907
The first church in Stuart, the First Methodist Church (or the First Methodist Episcopal Church), was built in 1895, near where Roosevelt Bridge starts today along the railroad tracks. The church left the building in 1906 and the building was used for several businesses, including the Stuart Times and the Chamber of Commerce. The building was moved in 1932 to Third Street (steeple removed) to be used as St. Mary's Episcopal Church. In 1950, St. Mary's leaves the building and has been used by several businesses and an art gallery. In 2024, it is The 1895 Church of StuArt.
Also visible is an early fish house, George W. Parks general merchandise store (later the Stuart Feed Store), built in 1901. Duplicate of SHM-2025-009-pa1-008
