Description
Curt E. Schroeder, Acacia masonic lodge master 1917. Schroeder was the nephew of the early settlers the Stypmann brothers, Curt Schroeder arrived in Stuart in 1893. He served as one of the original aldermen of Stuart, and also school trustee, city commissioner, mayor, clerk, city manager, and tax assessor. He also managed a lumberyard and grocery. His series of articles in the Stuart News on "Early Settlers of St. Lucie River" (published between 1942 and 1945) provided essential historical information about the area. Published in the Stuart News, 25th Historical Edition (9 Nov 1950)
