Description

Young man in sailor uniform. Holmes (son of Theodore Holmes of Salerno) was cited for bravery in 1945 after fighting fires and carrying an injured shipmate to medical treatment on the hangar deck of the USS Bunker Hill after it was struck by two suicide Japanese bombers off Okinawa on 11 May 1945.
