Whitegate, Sewall's Point, c. 1933

Description

Large white house, built in 1929 and named "Whitegate" by Thomas Oliver Dunlap (1877-1942) and wife Grace Andrews Dunlop (1893-1959) on Sewall's Point. Architect Rudolph Tietig. It was the first building on Sewall's Point to have electricity provided by Florida Power & Light and not by private generator. The Christie family were caretakers. After being sold in 1956, the house was unoccupied until its purchase in 1970 by the Pare family.
