Description
Built in 1917 for Berton "Burt" Babcock, and occupied by the Babcock Garage and a Hudson and Essex Motor Car dealership. The business was sold to John E. Varnedoe in May 1925 and he opened at a new location. A second story (seen here) was added to the building in July 1925.
This building was demolished in preparation for the widening of the Roosevelt Bridge in 1993. Handwritten on back: "Triangle building, Mrs. Curly furniture store." Also called the Flatiron Building.
Office of the South Florida Developer in background in the McDonald Block on Akron Avenue. The Carlton building, constructed in 1924, not visible.
