Float for the Golden Gate Development Company in parade on Flagler Avenue, 28 January 1926.

Description

Float with a chariot, women in Grecian costumes, and paper-mache horses, and sign "Golden Gate." The Golden Gate Development Company built a residential development in Stuart in 1925.

In celebration of the 1925 establishment of Martin County, the town of Stuart hosted a series of events on 28 and 29 January 1926, including a large parade. Governor John Wellborn Martin attended as special guest. The Golden Gate float won a $100 prize for this float.
