Published in the Stuart News, 23 January 1974, with the caption: "Veteran school teacher of the Martin County School System Mrs. Dora Lowery cuts a birthday cake given to her by teachers and friends during a surprise party at the J.D. Parker Elementary School on Jan. 10. Mrs. Lowery, who taught the second grade for 38 years until her retirement, was 82 on Jan 11. She is congratulated by former teacher Mrs. Virginia Brock."
