Description

Studio portrait of Felix Williams taken in October of 1963. Williams taught agriculture and science at several schools, including the Stuart Training School. He became the principal for East Stuart Elementary and was later promoted to the director of exceptional student education for Martin County. Williams was awarded "Teacher of the Year" for the State of Florida in 1957. His impact as a local educator was commemorated by Felix A. Williams Elementary School being named in his honor. Williams was also an active member of St. Paul's AME Church and he was the first African American to run for Stuart City Council in 1963.
