Description

Line of flags hung across square on Flagler Avenue; visible is the train station, the Stuart Mercantile Co., and the Feroe building with the post office and Florida Land Company. This community tree was celebrated shortly before Christmas and was two trees lashed to the flagpole in the town square (Flagler Avenue at St. Lucie) and decorated with electric bulbs in many colors, tinsel, and oranges. A line of flags includes the Stuart Community Service Flag, with 40 stars, of which one was silver and one gold. During the dedication ceremony, children sang and a telegram from Santa was read, and afterward the adults had a dance at the Lyric.
