Description

Small boats on the water, fisherman on shore. Writing on photo indicates Ernest Lyons in skiff. Large label on photo: "Ernest Lyons in skiff in canal before east locks were [?]. View at Indiantown Ferry-1920. A Man Made River." Published in Sandra Thurlow's book, Stuart on the St. Lucie (p. 43), with the caption: "Harry Lyons, the father of longtime Stuart News editor Ernie Lyons, photographed his son in the 'man-made' river near the Indiantown ferry in 1920. Harry was a great promoter of the canal but Ernie, as an adult, was one of its biggest critics."
