Description
Mark Baker, Vermelle Fulton (later Baker) and Ervin Fulton pose next to a pile of oranges at Baker grove on Sewall's Point. The Baker grove was located on a homestead first established by William H. Baker in 1880. The homestead also became the site of the Waveland Post Office soon thereafter. The Baker property was located near where the Stuart causeway starts on the east side Sewall’s Point. Mark and Vermelle Baker later moved to Palm City, where Vermelle became the postmaster for more than 17 years.
