Independence Day parade, 1961

Item

Title

Independence Day parade, 1961

Description

July Fourth parade passes by Kindred's Superette grocery store and the Philco Singer Service Center on Ocean Blvd. A different photo of this float appeared in the Stuart News (6 Jul 1961) with a caption reading "Theme Winner. The 'Statue of Liberty' float of the Ladies Auxiliary of Harold Johns Post No. 62, American Legion, designed by Nelly Pezzoni, won the prize for the float most in keeping with the Fourth of July theme in Tuesday's parade. Mrs. Theresa R. Brown was the statue; her parade attendants were: Karen Hartman, Darline McCoy, Kaye Hartman, Gay Bent, Sandy Mariotti and Gloria Mariotti. There were so many fine floats that the judges were hard pressed to choose the 'top three.' "
