Independence Day parade floats, 1961

Description

Two parade floats, sponsored by Stuart's Sea Explorer Scouts, represent the Monitor and Merrimac (Civil War ironclad ships that fought in the 1862 Battle of Hampton Roads). The parade floats passed between the Stuart Tackle Shop and Gulf Gas station on Colorado Avenue for an Independence Day parade through downtown Stuart.
