Title
Launching Half Moon houseboat, 1962
Description
Photograph published in the Stuart News (21 Jun 1962) with caption reading " 'I Christen Thee ... Half Moon,' Mrs. James McGann takes a hefty swing with champagne bottle at the new houseboat while her husband looks on. Two spectators get a laugh out of the proceedings. Launching of the forty-five ton craft drew a crowd." It was a struggle at Oliver Boat Company in North Stuart that took hours and much effort to successfully place the boat on the water. The efforts of the boat launch even attracted a large crowd of onlookers, some even laid out picnic lunches.
