Description
A haze of smoke blows over Flagler Avenue in downtown Stuart from a fire at the Commodore Hotel. A Jupiter Island firefighter stands next to a fire truck parked near the W. W. Mac Co. 5 Cents to Dollar store. Another firefighter seen in the distance, walking past the Lyric Theatre and Greene's Department Store. Stuart Department store and Mary Carter Paint Factories Stuart Branch also in view in the background, slightly obscured by the smoke. Commodore Hotel burned to the ground on 17 January 1959.
