  • Artist and architect, Richard Haas. The New York artist was invited to Stuart to present a plan for revitalizing downtown Stuart in 1978. Haas presented his plan at the Elliott Museum in April of 1978. During his presentation, Haas revealed a sketch of downtown which required little construction but instead relied on painting large murals in his architectural illusionary style on the sides of downtown buildings.
