Presented by the Stuart Commercial Club to the United States Government Engineers at a public hearing (16 Jan 1923) in Stuart, Florida as part of a report requesting aid for a deep water harbor. -

"Proving indisputably that citrus trees grow well here." Oranges or grapefruit trees. FPC-7515 listed in FPC record book 2 (p. 26) as "7507-20 Grapefruit in Pack House Wabasso L." Print available labeled "A.B. (Alf.) Michael in his grove." Alfred Benjamin Michael was the mate on Walter Kitching's boat, Wave, and settled in Wabasso in 1887.

Harvesting of oranges, c. 1950
Orange grove with several workers on tall ladders picking oranges and placing them in sacks worn across their shoulders. Crates filled with oranges are piled up at different spots along the row and machinery visible in the background. Back caption reads: "A typical scene of orange pickers during mid-winter in sunny Florida."
