Studio portrait of Martin County Sheriff, Roy Baker, in a suit. Roy C. Baker was an army MP during WWII, then worked with the Delray Beach Police Dept. He joined the Stuart police force in November 1945 and by December was the Stuart Chief of Police. In 1952 he was elected Sheriff of Martin County, a position he held until 1972. -

In 1936, Walton became a patrolman in the City of Stuart and in January 1940 became the Chief of Police. After taking a leave of absence from the position for the summer and fall of 1941, he was replaced in December. -
Capt. Leroy Washington, 1991
Washington was one of the first two Black officers (along with James Hall) appointed to the Stuart police force. Washington became the first Black Captain of the Stuart police department and was later promoted to Deputy Chief of Police.
