Judge John C. Hancock, wife Mamie Hancock, son Fred Hancock and his wife Billie Hancock.
The older Hancocks arrived in Stuart in 1902, living on Atlanta Avenue, then removed to Jacksonville for their son's schooling before returning to Stuart before 1913. John C. Hancock was a justice of the peace, pineapple farmer, and opened Hancock Insurance Agency. The Hancock family were instrumental in establishing the Lyric Theatre. Mamie Hancock played piano there and also gave music lessons.Tags Judges -

William Earoll Roebuck, c. 1916
Earoll Roebuck (1896-1951). According to his obit, he was the first West Palm Beach city judge elected by popular vote, and also served as attorney for Palm Beach County.

Kanner (1893-1967), Anna Kanner Samuel (b. 1909), Dr. Harry Kanner (1895-1983), Ruth Kanner (b. 1899), and Israel Herman Kanner (1901-1953). A.O. Kanner came to Martin County in 1925. He was state attorney of 21st Judicial Circuit; attorney for the City of Stuart, for Martin County; he served in the Florida Legislature for five terms and state senate for two terms. He then served as a judge until his retirement in 1964. -

Judge A. O. Kanner, c. 1960
Studio portrait of Judge A. O. Kanner. Judge Kanner moved to Martin County in 1925 and became the first state attorney for the 21st Judicial Circuit. Judge Kanner served as the attorney for the City of Stuart, for Martin County, and for the county school board. He also served as a representative of Martin County in the Florida Legislature and a state senator of the 33rd District. In 1941, he was appointed Circuit Judge of the 9th Judicial District and was appointed to the Second District Court of Appeal in 1957, where he later became the first chief judge of the Second District Court of Appeal. -
