Lady Abundance statue, c. 1950
Lady Abundance statue (installed in 1949), with the courthouse and water tower visible in background. Published in Alice Luckhardt's book, Stuart, with the caption: "To honor Stuart pioneer Cynthia Haney, the Stuart Woman's Club decided to purchase a statue to be placed in the Haney Circle Park at Colorado and Osceola. The Goddess of Abundance by Manya Konolei was purchased sight unseen for $1,800 in 1949. Upon its arrival, the club felt its scanty attire combined with the grapes (associated with wine) was inappropriate to represent Haney, a longtime prohibitionist. So the 10-foot bronze statue, along with a fountain, was placed on the courthouse lawn." The statue was later placed in Haney Circle in 1991.
