Dr. Julian Parker, 1961
Dr. Julian Parker speaks with then Stuart mayor Jack Hartman at the dedication of J. D. Parker Elementary School held on November 11, 1961, which was also proclaimed "Dr. Parker Day" jointly by the County Commission and the mayor of Stuart. All those delivered by him were invited, and 1,500 attended. In conjunction with the school's dedication, Parker's wife is seated next to him and crowds visible in bleachers behind the couple. Dr. Parker arrived in Stuart in 1924 and retired in 1972. -
Dr. Parker's office, 1956
Dr. Parker's office at 27 E. Ocean Blvd in Stuart. Dr. Julian D. Parker (1895-1987) arrived in Stuart in 1924 directly after finishing his medical training. He worked at the St. Lucie Sanitarium until it closed in 1936 then for many years was the sole doctor serving the community of Stuart. In 1961, the J.D. Dr. Walter Eugene Oden, c. 1975
Dr. Walter Eugene Oden (1935-2010) was a 1952 graduate of Stuart Training School, math teacher, guidance counselor, and acting principal at Murray Senior High School in Port Salerno and principal of Jann Mann Alternative School and Brownsville Junior High School in Miami. He was also a DJ of a popular program on WSTU. Published in the Stuart News (1 July 1981). -
