Clarinda Coggshall stands next to palm trees. Clarinda Coggshall was the wife of D. H. Coggshall who hailed from a successful beekeeping family in Groton, New York. The Coggshalls spent many winters at their home in Martin County. -

Several women, including Clarinda Coggshall (on left) stand between rows of beehive boxes. Two male beekeepers with netting attached to their hats are also in view. Older beekeeper standing behind the women is Col. O. O. Poppleton, a well-known expert beekeeper. Poppleton moved to the Stuart area in 1895 and maintained bee colonies from Ft. Pierce to Key West. His colonies were producing 15 tons of honey by 1909 and his bee keeping expertise earned him the nickname, "Bee King of Florida." -
