Addison Alexander Whiticar holding a pipe, c. 1965
Ad Whiticar arrived in Martin County in about 1917 and was an early charter boat captain, with a fleet of seven boats. His sons continued the Whiticar Boat business for many years.
Published in the Stuart News (29 Dec 1966). Incorrectly identified in the Florida Cracker Sampler as George Curtis Whiticar. -

Costella Williams, 1991
Educator Costella Williams. Williams was a teacher for 46 years, many of which were spent in Martin County schools. Williams was the first teacher at the first Black school opened in the county. Williams taught at this one-room schoolhouse in Port Salerno for 20 years. In 1995, the one-room schoolhouse/art room was named in her honor (Costella Williams Learning Center).
