Ida A. Carpenter Loy (1871-1938) in yard of house with palm tree. After marrying Charles Loy in 1889, she and her husband came to Stuart in 1921, then to West Palm Beach, then back to Stuart in 1925 where Charles was postmaster. -

Flora Frazier Dyer (1878-1937) moved to Martin County with her family in 1887 when she was nine years old. She later married Harry Armstrong Dyer and had several children. Flora was a photographer and painter. She ran the Dyer Dry Goods Store while her husband was undergoing treatments for tuberculosis in New Mexico. Flora also started her own commercial plant business, growing and shipping roses. Her business was named Virginia Gardens, after her youngest daughter. -
