Harry Armstrong Dyer (1872-1934). Dyer moved to homestead in the Palm City area in 1891 for health reasons. He married Flora Frazier in 1897, and they had several children. He worked for the Armour Fertilizer Company, first traveling regularly to Miami on horseback, then on motorcycle. In 1914, Dyer opened a dry goods store in Stuart (which remained in operation for 68 years), and served as mayor from 1928 to 1931. In his later years, he spent much of his time in New Mexico, seeking cures for his tuberculosis.
