  • Jensen after the 3 May 1908 fire, which destroyed most buildings in the town, including stores, warehouses, and train depot.
  • Boy in lane with large house in background, Eden Grove, built by Thomas Richards. This private home was used as a social center for Eden and rented rooms. Photographer William Henry Jackson visited the Indian River area in 1887, 1889, and 1903.
  • Thomas Richards (1830-1902) arrived in the area in 1879 and named it "Eden." This dock was the biggest in the area, extending 1,500 feet into the Indian River. There was storage and a packinghouse nearby for pineapple packing, which were then shipped to Titusville to be loaded onto the railroad for delivery north. Photographer William Henry Jackson visited the Indian River area in 1887, 1889, and 1903.

    Behind this dock is Richards' house, Eden Grove.
  • In 1917, Frank Coventry opened a ferry service across the St. Lucie River between Jensen Beach (then Gosling) and Stuart. The ferry served as many as 500 cars a month until the auto bridge opened in January 1918.

    Recorded in Florida Photographic Concern record book 1 (p. 72, pdf p. 76) as one of several photos taken for Miss W.L. Inman of Hobe Sound by photographer "P.C." 2291 is noted as the "walk." Date not recorded, but #2206 is 1909 and #2481 is 1910.
