    Recorded in Florida Photographic Concern record book 1: "4156, Mr. McCaddon, Hobe Sound, Fla., Boulevard Ridgelawn, house from front, JDD (photographer)" John McCaddon (1819-1897). His son Joseph McCaddon was one-time head of the Barnum and Bailey Circus, and his daughter Ruth married James Bailey, partner of P.T. Barnum.
  • Jensen School on a hill, nearby is a pineapple screen. Built in about 1908 and used until it was severely damaged in the 1928 hurricane.

  • Old car driven by a man with eyeglasses or sunglasses. A woman holds an infant and an unhappy boy sits in front. Another copy features caption: "First automobile in Vero Beach. The first automobile in Vero Beach was an Orient Buckboard, brought in by boat and assembled locally for Mr. and Mrs. N.O. Penny. It was officially registered in Florida on February 20, 1907, as the 333rd automobile in the state. Shown in the picture are Mr. and Mrs. N.O. Penny and their children. Mrs. Penny was the 3 year old sister of Charles Gifford when she came to Vero Beach with her parents in 1888."
