Gas station on Dixie Highway, c. 1935
Man standing in front of gas station (address in 2024: 228 S. Dixie Highway, Stuart), next door to Service Dry Cleaners in the Krueger Building. Signs include: Standard Oil Company, ladies rest room, road information, ask here Gargoyle Mobiloil, crank case greasing service. Building later used as the Red Bus Station, which provided transportation to Camp Murphy.

Drawing of Browning motors, c. 1935
Large building for car sales. Published in Alice Lockhardt's book, Stuart: Images of America (p. 80), with the caption: "George H. Browning opened Browning Motors, selling Fords in Stuart in late 1922. By early 1925, Browning needed a larger building and purchased the triangular corner of Fourth Street (East Ocean) and Flagler Avenue. He sketched out plans for a new two-story block structure. The impressive first-floor showroom and offices opened March 1926 with six full-size Fords and Lincoln vehicles. The second-floor repair shop could hold 75 vehicles, which entered the top level using a ramp."

Chisholm's Grill, c. 1940
Cars parked outside Chisholm's Grill. Established first as a simple hamburger stand in 1927 by William and Anna Chisholm, this became a small chain of restaurants throughout Florida. It was the first restaurant in Stuart to install air conditioning in 1939. It became the Meadows Restaurant in 1955.

Established first as a simple hamburger stand in 1927 by William and Anna Chisholm, this became a small chain of restaurants throughout Florida.
