  • Mary and Uriah 'Elias' Simmons pose next to an automobile. The Simmons became Palm City homesteaders around 1890 when they came to the area from Ohio. Elias learned the craft of boat building from Hubert Bessey and beekeeping from Col. O. O. Poppleton.

  • The Woman's Club building in Palm City. Funding for the building provided by early Palm City developer, Charles Chillingworth and the building's dedication was held 23 November 1915.

    The 1928 hurricane destroyed the building. The Palm City Congregational Church was also destroyed by the hurricane but was quickly rebuilt and the Woman's Club began meeting at the church during that time and continued to do so even into the 1950s.
