Published in the Stuart News (15 Nov 1951) with the caption: "The highly popular cooking school, officially dubbed 'the electric appliance exposition and cooking demonstrations,' will be presented again in Stuart Nov. 28 and 29, the sponsoring Florida Power and Light Company here announce this week. The school will be held at Stuart Civic Center from 3-4:30pm on Nov. 28 and 3-4:30pm on Nov. 29. Mrs. Lottie Pierce and Mrs. Jeannie Farrell, both of the West Palm Beach FP&L office, will be in charge. Six local appliance dealers will display their wares. There will be no admission charges, all food that the two leaders prepare will be given away and there will be a series of door prizes, it was announced. Above are two scenes from last year's school here. At left, the crowd watches as (at right) one of the demonstrators pulls a neat roast from the oven."

  • The interior of Cromer's Market, which features a meat counter and many signs for products available. Cromer's Market was located first in the Minschke Building on Flagler Avenue (1935-1940) and later moved to Pressel Building (1940-1952). Two men, manager Jim Brock (left) and assistant John N. Mann. Brock worked at the market until 1941, and returned from service in WWII to became a charter boat captain and Martin County surveyor.
