Curt Schroeder, c. 1900
Curt Emil Schroeder (1872-1946) served as mayor, city manager, clerk, and tax collector of Stuart. Published in Sandra Thurlow's book Stuart on the St. Lucie, with the caption: "Curt Schroeder emigrated from Germany in 1893 and joined his uncles Otto, Ernest, and Albert on the St. Lucie River. He used his diaries written in his native tongue as a basis for a series of articles about Stuart's pioneer days published in the Stuart News in 1945. Much that has been written about the history of Stuart is based on his accounts."
