Dr. Nathaniel McClinton (1837-1927) and wife Mary Ferguson McClinton (1849-1927) came to the Jensen area in 1902, having purchased land on Indian River Drive a few years before. While he intended to retire, the community's dire need for a physician put him back into practice. -

Mary and Dr. Nathaniel McClinton, c. 1910
Dr. Nathaniel McClinton and his wife, Mary Ferguson stand in front of their house on Indian River Drive in Jensen. The couple retired to the area from Michigan with the intention to grow pineapples but as Dr. Ferguson saw the need for physician in the area, began serving as a traveling doctor for patients between Ft. Pierce and Hobe Sound. -

Dr. David Maxwell Graham (1843-1923) and wife Mary Alice with children Emma and Celia Ashley. Graham arrived in Stuart in 1913. A homeopathic physician, he had an office on the second floor of the Feroe Building, then moved to the McDonald Building in 1915. He lived in Stuart at least until 1920, and was very active in the community and in the Methodist Church. He then moved to Manhattan, Kansas. -
